This post really brightened up my day.
Illuminating, really.

Did that first one come with a lifetime supply of spare bulbs? If not, then it’s going to look funny when the first bulb burns out and is replaced with a plain old soft white bulb from Walmart.

Mmmm, exposed bulbs for that authentic wasteland feel.

Confession time. I have two lights similar to these hanging over my bar.

More from the Lumenati.

Just bought this chandelier last night for our house. This is a stock photo but will provide reno updates today/tomorrow.

These would drive my mom nuts. She has a thing about exposed bulbs that doesn’t lend itself very well to current trends. Strangely, she doesn’t mind recessed floods.

For some reason, that reminded me of this.

My thoughts too. Where the heck do you buy replacement bulbs?

Like the DNA shaped filaments.

Holy crap is that one with the wooden beam just straight up lazy. And it probably cost more than any of them too.
This one step away from just having wiring on the outside of the drywall.

We have been buying edison bulbs off of amazon. Instead of $8 a piece at home depot, we got them for 6 for $18. Good luck to them on that fancy design though.

Our house has become recessed cans and exposed lightbulbs. I love it.

Amazon?

I’m okay with most of those, actually. I agree with Stapleface (A sentence I never thought I’d type...), 3-4 is ugly and lazy, and the globe in 9-11 is just ugly.

They’re probably LED, so it should be a while.

They’re LEDs. When they go, you should probably replace them all, because it’s been like over a decade since they were made.

It’s a fixture, they are attached to the ceiling.
I think they’re crazy, though - why the hell would you want to attach a big chunk of wood to the box in your ceiling, then have the actual lights hanging off it?!

We should just replace lighting with one of these plus an edison bulb.
Here is someone just recommending bare porcelain lamps with led bulbs.

What is the point of a light fixture with nothing reducing light intensity or diffusing the light? All I see is crap that will cast shadows.
You’d be doing just as well with bare bulbs hanging on wires and you’d be doing better if you removed 3/4 of most of these fixtures as they would serve the same purpose without casting shadows.
I feel like we’re living through a drab version of the 1970s, in that people will think the style of today is hideous and it’ll become dated very quickly.

Your job looks fun. Do you install for a chain store?

I don’t install, and I don’t work for a chain store

OCD on the bulb being crooked.

I feel we could make them a little sexier looking, but let’s face it, this is where style is heading and eventually you can only get so nihilistic in your design before all functionality is lost.
